Banks Do Not Want Your House
Banks are forced to foreclose on homeowners due to default on mortgage payments

As the year 2026 near its end, the housing market is generating a new list of homeowners who are falling behind on their mortgage payment to the banks, according to a recent report from the New York Post.
The increase is 42% more than previous year. Do banks like doing this? No. This creates more paper trail and court litigation. After a Notice of Default (NOD) is issued for being delinquent for 30 days, the homeowner is responsible to bring his/her payments up to par. 90 days later the bank will proceed to foreclose. The bank is not in the business of having an inventory of houses. It lends money and expects its return with interest.
In August of this year, 5794 properties were repossessed. That was an increase of 22% from July. Compared to 2025, that was a 42% increase according to a real estate data firm ATTOM.
Florida has the largest number of foreclosures followed by Texas then California. Including Illinois and Georgia to the list will make these five states as the top five.
If you're a homeowner from any of these states, do not lose your house to bank foreclosure. Contact the Keplington Homes team for a free consultation and let's help you keep the banks away from repossessing your house.
