Reduced Property Tax for Veterans
Veterans qualify for a reduction on property tax

When is it time to pay your property tax in the State you live in? Every State has its own due date.
Showcased here is my Utah Property Tax Notice with a due date of November 30 for the amount of $1085.09. The Treasury Department valued my 3 bed, 2 bath, 2020 sqft residential property at $433 000 (not sure if I would agree with these figures) and indicated the total annual tax amount due $3333.86 less $2248.77.
In 2025, the total annual tax amount due to the State was $2866.27 but I paid $734.77 because I was credited $2131.50 for Veteran with a Service-Connected Disability Exemption. For 2026, I noticed that I have a total credit for the amount of $2248.77. Would that be the Veteran with a Service-Connected Disability Exemption not shown? Interestingly, there is a Veteran's Relief and Other Tax Relief I am contributing to which I did not agree to it.
As for the value of the property, the State arbitrarily increased it by 1.1 times and expects me to pay 1.5 times more on tax. As for the exemption benefit, I got an increase of 1.1 times. Is this a case of disproportionate of tax payment? This makes me wonder what the property tax figures will look like in the years to come.
It's already tough enough in this capitalistic world where local governments will find ways to tax everyone on anything they can think of. If you're a veteran, be sure you check your property Tax Notice closely and get your tax reduced by exemptions for veterans. If you don't agree with the Treasury Department's assessment, be sure you refute it.
